This poor creature had been staying in the same busy street ever since his former family had left him there, possibly still hoping that they would be back to collect him. It was a hazardous area for a pet to be staying in, and it was a good thing that nothing had happened to him during the weeks that he was there. Still, as good as he was at avoiding vehicles and people in general, those who saw him knew that it would still be better for him to be taken off the streets and be placed in a proper home.
By the time the people from the Hope For Paws organization had arrived at the location, the dog had made himself comfortable at a corner near a street that had a dead end. This was good news because if they chased him into that street, he could run until there was no escape anymore, and they would be able to corner him. All they needed to do was to secure the only way out using their portable plastic fences. However, since he had been staying in the same area for at least three weeks, he knew that running toward that street would end up in him being trapped. He ran toward the other road instead, where it was much busier, and where he could get hit by one of the automobiles that were passing by.
The rescuers then decided to use a cage trap instead so that the dog wouldn’t be spooked by their presence. After setting it all up and putting some food inside the cage, they went back to their car and tried to look inconspicuous. Two police officers arrived at the area in their own car and asked what the rescuers were doing. After explaining their objective, said police officers wished them luck and took their leave. Once the dog was safely inside the cage, it was time to take him to the HQ. They named Him Pepe.
