When it comes to saving lives, you never know where and when you will have the opportunity to do so. This is what Cory Holt and Katy Perry learned when they came across a litter of puppies stuck in the Utah snow while they were snowmobiling one day. It was a very slim chance of them coming across these pups, and lucky for the little doggies, the odds were in their favor.
Finding dogs by chance
The couple was snowmobiling through the backcountry of Monte Cristo in Utah when they happened to come across a dog along with her three Great Pyrenees puppies huddled together inside a sheep carcass. This was just a stroke of luck for the doggies since Colt and Katy were nowhere near anything else, but wilderness and the pups wouldn’t have been found otherwise.
Both the snowmobilers were determined to help the pooches but were unable to until the next day. It was another shot in the dark for them to find that all the dogs survived, but they did despite the cold winter weather. Another blessing for the doggies was that the local Search and Rescue team was nearby to help get the pups into safety.
Bringing the pups home safe
The couple, along with Search and Rescue, were able to safely bring back the three little dogs out of the cold. However, their mom wasn’t as easy to get a hold of. They didn’t have any ropes to tie up the momma dog, so the rescue team had to go back for her after bringing the pups to safety first.
Colt and Katy adopted one of the puppies and named him Polar. The other two were taken in by the Great Pyrenees Rescue of Montana for them to keep while they find the pups their forever homes.
