A dog owner in Panama saved the life of his pet by jumping into a river during a rainstorm while the dog had slipped into the deadly waters.
35-year-old Manuel Calderon from San Manguilito, Panama, was coming back home with his dog when something drastic happened. The dog Fulo slipped into the rapidly flowing waters of the river Sinai. The banks of the river had burst opened due to the intense rainstorm the region was experiencing.
As the dog fell into the water, he straightaway looked at his owner for help. The waters were fiery and tumultuous, but the owner did not allow any second thought into his mind about jumping into the water to save his pooch.
Manuel caught the dog before hitting a bank and then dragged him out of the waters towards a dry place. Manuel then brought the dog back uphill by holding the dog in his hands.
Manuel told reporters that he was totally determined to save the dog, and that was the only thing on his mind. Manuel was thankful to God that he was able to grab the dog only a few meters after jumping into the water.
Manuel admitted that he did not worry about his own life at that time because he thinks that any animal should not be disregarded for just being an animal. Manuel requested everyone to treat all living beings with compassion.
Manuel himself was abandoned by his parents, and he grew up by himself. He understands that the pain of being abandoned is beyond measure, and therefore he made sure his dog did not have to suffer the same kind of pain in the face of adversity.
Hector Valdes is the mayor of San Manguilito, and he informed the press that Manuel has recently joined the department of animal welfare.
