Sometimes animals of different kinds form the most unusual bonds. Our story is about a rescue dog named Tyber, who formed a close friendship with a tiger cub.
Tyber’s human mom Kelsea adopted him from a shelter. She saw his photos online and decided to pay him a visit. When she saw Tyber, she fell in love with him immediately and took him home.
According to Kelsea, Tyber looked like he was part Rat Terrier and Jack Russell Terrier. The dog was always bouncing up and down. This is why the staff at the shelter used to call him “Tigger,” after the character from the animation Winnie the Pooh, which was always bouncing on its tail.
Because of his breed, Tyber was highly energetic. He was always running around the zoo where Kelsea worked. However, they couldn’t find an equally active animal that he could play with.
One day, one of the tigers in the zoo gave birth. Because the cub was born during a thunderstorm, its mother somehow rejected it and refused to care for it. Kelsea took the cub in and tended to it. She named him Thunder.
As the cub grew, Kelsea had an idea: what if they introduced Tyber to Thunder? Would they take well to each other? The other staff at the zoo thought it was worth a try.
Being careful not to let the two animals harm each other, the zoo staff introduced the dog to the tiger cub. They held the animals by the leash to see how they would react. Surprisingly, Tyber and Thunder seemed to like each other.
More than that, they became friends. They played with each other all the time. Thunder turned out to be the best playmate for the ever hyper Tyber. The zoo staff often saw Thunder rubbing his head at Tyber, which is a cat’s way of showing affection.
Tyber’s friendship with Thunder helped him calm down a bit, especially at home. See their amazing story in the following video.
